I can’t believe that it’s almost the end of 2017! Where did the year go?

As usual at this time of year, I like to look back over the year and see what we’ve done and how far we’ve come.

Thanks to all of you, the blog has continued it’s growth trend this year. In 2017, we had 1 million visitors to the website! (That’s up from about 330,000 for 2016). And our Pinterest following has increased from 22,000 people at the end of 2016 to 55,000 at the end of 2017. If you’re not one of them, and want to be, you can find us on Pinterest HERE.

One area where I haven’t made as much progress is growing my Instagram following (posting pictures every day is hard!)…so that will be one of my focus areas for this year. If you would like to follow us on Instagram, we have 2 accounts that you can choose from:

• FromHouseToHomeDecor – I only post decorating related pictures to this account.
• FromHouseToHomeBlog – This account has pictures related to the most recent blog posts, for all of the topics on the blog.

In the meantime, it’s always fun to look back and see what the most popular posts on From House To Home were for the past year.  Although a number of our older posts are still getting read a lot, for the purpose of this list I’m only including new posts (ie. ones that we wrote this year), just to keep the list interesting.

#9 on the 2017 From House To Home Top 10 list are these Craft Room Storage Tips. I finally got my craft room clutter under control by implementing these organization ideas.

I do feel compelled to mention that although these last 2 posts did well this year, my Rotating Kitchen Utensil Storage Rack is still by far the most popular storage idea on From House To Home.

#8: Make Your House Look Haunted For Halloween

I guess there must be a lot of people who love decorating for Halloween as much as I do! My post on how to make your house look haunted for Halloween made the top 10 list even though it is a topic that is only relevant for one month in the year.

#7: Kate Spade Inspired Tablescape

This graphic black, white and gold with pops of pink table setting that was inspired by Kate Spade is one of my all time favorites. So I was really happy that it made it to the list. Apparently a bunch of you liked it, too!

#6: Easy 4th of July Outdoor Decor Ideas

Most of the time when I pull the numbers to see what the most popular posts have been for the year, I’m not really that shocked about what comes up. But seeing this 4th of July Outdoor Decor Ideas post on the list was a surprise even to me! It looks like easy patriotic decor is a hit with a lot of people.

#5: How to Pick The Right Plants For Your Garden

Gardening was definitely the hot topic of 2017 for From House To Home.

So it’s not much of a surprise that the #6 spot on the From House To Home Best of 2017 is this post on How To Pick The Right Plants For Your Garden. It was one of the first gardening posts we wrote in 2017, and it helped to get our gardening season started in the right direction.

#4: Best Blue Plants For Containers In The Shade

It’s no secret that we love blue, and that our gardens have a lot of shade. So this post about the Best Blue Plants For Containers In The Shade was the perfect topic for us. We were hoping that many of you would find it useful, too…and it looks like you did!

#3: 2017 Home Decor Trends

The third most popular post on our list is 2017 Home Decor Trends. We broke down the Pinterest home decor trend predictions which is always fun to do! Now I’ll have to go back and see how many of them were right 🙂

#2: Low Maintenance Perennials That Thrive In Full Sun

Although a lot of my garden is in the shade, I still have some areas that get sun all day long, and low maintenance plants are always high on my priority list. So this list of Low Maintenance Perennials That Thrive In Full Sun was right up my alley. I’m hoping to add to it this year with some more sun-worshipping plants, so be sure watch for that!

And the number 1 post on the Best of From House to Home 2017 list is…2017 Paint Color Trends. I always like to know what the current trends are.  Not so I can change all of my decor to match them, but to find out if any of my colors are “in” for the year. It is so much easier to find accessories and furniture for your house when your colors are trending…I always budget a little extra so I can stock up 🙂
