9 Cricut Explore Decor Projects That Will Beautify Your Home

This list of beautiful Cricut Explore decor projects will teach you how to use your machine to save money on decorating and make your home look stunning.

I have to admit…a couple of years ago, I wasn’t even sure what a Cricut was…and now it’s one of my favorite decorating tools!

My road to getting a Cricut started when I wanted to created this DIY ceiling medallion for my den. The design is pretty intricate and I knew there was no way I would have the patience to cut it out by hand.

So I went on a hunt for a way to take a design on my computer and have it cut from a piece of mat board.

Which is how I came across die cutting machines.

I wasn’t sure if I would get enough use out of it to justify the price. But I really wanted that ceiling medallion…so I decided to go for it.

After trying out another machine, I finally settled on the Cricut Explore Air™ 2*. And I love it!

It makes cutting (and drawing) custom patterns, signs or images from your computer so easy.

Now that I’ve found out how much fun it is to use, I’m on another hunt…to find more awesome home decor projects that are easy to make with a Cricut machine.

Stencils

I have to say that making custom stencils is my absolute favorite Cricut home decor project.

The stencil material* is inexpensive (so if you mess up the first time, it doesn’t cost very much to do it again). It’s also fairly easy to cut (which means the chances of messing up the first time are much lower).

And you can make exactly the pattern you want…like I did for my Scalamandre-inspired zebra stencil in my master bathroom makeover.

There is no way I would have been able to pull this stencil pattern off without my Cricut. It also saved me a bunch of money not having to buy really expensive wallpaper…the Cricut more than paid for itself in this one project!

Kitchen Towels

These kitchen towel designs from Amy at My Life From Home look just like the ones you see in those expensive kitchen stores.

But they are actually really easy to make with a Cricut machine and some iron-on vinyl*.

Amy used a Silhouette machine for her project, but the Cricut Explore would do this decor project just as easily.

Organization Labels

The Cricut Explore Air 2 is also really good at drawing and cutting letters.

The Design Space program that they provide create your patterns comes with a lot of built-in lettering styles. Which means you can cut pretty much any style of words or letters that you want to.

Like these pretty organization labels cut from adhesive vinyl*. Definitely a step above your standard label maker look.

The possibilities are endless!

Custom Pillows

Home Sweet Home Pillow

Combining cut letters with iron on transfer means you can come up with all kinds of pillow designs. This is another home decor item that seems to cost a lot more if you buy it already made, but is really inexpensive to do for yourself.

This Home Sweet Home pillow is even following the latest 2018 color trend, by using a Pantone purple iron on*.

Shine On Pillow

Of course, you know I like anything with a bit of shine, like this pillow with silver metallic iron on transfer*.

That’s the other great thing about creating your own designs…you get to pick the colors (and sparkles!)

Water Color Picture

I haven’t done much drawing with my Cricut yet, but I’m dying to try out something like this water color picture.

It’s such a cool way (but inexpensive) way to add some custom artwork to any room.

Signs

This Gather sign that I made for my fall home tour was the first text design I tried with my Cricut.

I created the design in Photoshop and then imported it into the Cricut Design Space™ app, which worked perfectly!

Other than waiting for the paint to dry, the whole thing took less than an hour to make.

Of course, if you don’t feel like creating a design yourself, Cricut also provides some already-created patterns you can use, like this “Magic of Winter” sign.

Ceiling Medallion

Of course, I can’t forget the project that started the whole journey for me…the one that made me buy the Cricut Explore Air™ 2 * in the first place.

The ceiling medallion from my den / downstairs home office makeover is still one of my favorite DIY projects.

It is also one of the upgrades I’ve done to my house that gets the most comments from people once they find out if is home made.

Well, that’s my list of Cricut Explore decor projects so far…although I’m sure it’s going to grow!

Now I’m off to see how I can use my Cricut to make some decorations for my upcoming Super Bowl party.
