Okay…I think I have officially lost my mind!

I decided on the spur of the moment (as in last week) that I would join the One Room Challenge held by Linda at Calling it Home, and make over my home office.

In case you’re not familiar with the One Room Challenge, it’s a semi-annual event where a whole lot of crazy people…oh sorry, I mean bloggers…(like me) make over a room in 6 weeks…and let you see the progress (or lack thereof) every week.

So this is week 1…the week when we need to get our plan together.

One of the first things I always do before I start any room makeover is to go and find some design inspiration.

Which means a lot of looking through magazines, scrolling through Pinterest and searching on Google.

I’m not a “stick with one decor style” type of person, so I don’t have a pre-conceived idea in my mind of what it should look like.

But I know that I want my home office to be a feminine, elegant and glamorous space that I’ll want to work in.

So here are the girly glam home office ideas that I found as the inspiration for my project.

Before We Start…A Note On Pinning

The images of the individual rooms do not belong to me, so you won’t be able to pin them directly from this page.

If you want to remember the ideas, please do one of the following:

This wall unit from Amie Corley Interiors provides open and closed storage and lots of drawer space.

Painting the insides of the shelves a bright green color makes the whole area much more fun!

And the pink chairs make sure it looks girly. While the gold accents are definitely glam.

I also love the zebra-print cowhide rug. I’ve wanted one of those forever and never had a place to put one…so this may be my chance!

Retro Pink, Black and White Office

I love this bold pink, white and black design from Kelly Wearstler (in Architectural Digest).

Those funky pink chairs are awesome! And I love that black and white rug.

The desk with lucite legs and all the gold accents make a retro-glam statement.

Girly Pink and Grey Home Office

This glam home office was put together by Melissa at Polished Habitat and I love the pops of pink against the grey background.

That fuchsia upholstered stool is gorgeous. With the accents of gold and pink fur throw pillows, it’s definitely a girly glam home office!

Pink, Green and Gold Accents

I sure do have a lot of pink on my girly, glam home office ideas list…that must be a sign!

The DIY bulletin board above the desk in this office from Amy at Atta Girl Says is an easy way to bring the pink and green colors into the room. And the gold frame definitely adds the glam factor.

Making the window cornice out of an oriental-style fabric pulls the color scheme up onto the wall (I love the pattern!)

And that gold ceiling light fixture is an awesome DIY project!

Pink And Navy Color Scheme

The combination of pink and navy in this home office makeover from Merichelle at We’re The Joneses is to die for!

With the pink wallpaper, the blue tassel chandelier and the white fur-covered bench, it’s definitely a feminine office.

And I think any room with fur qualifies as glam 🙂

Wisteria Walls Glam Home Office

I love this idea from Rachel Roy (shown on One Kings Lane) to have Wisteria on the walls and use a natural stone dining room table as a desk.

It provides a large surface with lots of leg room underneath so you have room to work from any side.

The pink desk chair makes sure that the room feels feminine.

More Nature-Inspired Glam

When Kathy from Up To Date Interiors decided to makeover her home office that doesn’t have any windows, she brought the outside in with her gorgeous nature-inspired wallpaper.

Painting the desk green a coordinating green color pulled the whole room together. And putting down a black and white striped rug added a little extra drama.

The result is an elegant and glamorous home office design!

Vintage Silver Elegance

This entry in my list of girly glam home office ideas is more muted than the first few rooms.

Moldings on the wall add dimension to what could otherwise be a boring, flat wall space (and in my case, that might help distract from the popcorn on the ceiling).

I may even add some gold highlights like this inspirational picture from Laurel Bern’s site.  I also like the weathered look of the wood…

Calming Blue Feminine Home Office

Another more relaxing option, this light blue and white home office still has the glam element I’m looking for (hello chandelier!)

It would be great if I could have my desk by the window so that I could look out when I’m working.

Although my window isn’t nearly this big, I would like to have a built-in bench under it like they have in this picture from Jennifer Pacca Interiors.
