White and Silver Winter Table Setting

Now that Thanksgiving is over, the Christmas season is officially in full swing!  Which also means Christmas parties and dinners galore!

The next event on my holiday hosting calendar is a winter-themed birthday dinner I’ll be holding for a friend of mine later in December.

And I already have the inspiration for my table setting…the new champagne flutes that I used in my Thanksgiving table setting last week. The silver sparkles on the glasses go perfectly with the white and silver winter table setting that I was planning on doing for the dinner.

So in the interest of not leaving everything to the last minute, I decided to come up with the table decor in advance.

Cover The Table With Silver

I decided to start with silver on the table. Silver placemats give some texture under the plates.

Mirror chargers* work really well under candles.

They reflect the candle light and make the table sparkle.  Even though they are intended to be chargers under plates, I don’t think I have ever used them that way.

Add White And Silver Place Settings

I alternated white and silver plates for the place settings. White chargers* with uneven edges add some more texture to the table.

Then I used the same plate combination that I used in the Thanksgiving table setting…silver trim glass plates* with white salad plates*.

Silver-edged white napkins* with silver snowflake napkin rings* finish out the place settings.

The Flutes

Of course, since the table was inspired by the champagne flutes*, they are a feature on the table.

For this dinner, I will probably be serving sparkling wine (Prosecco is my current favorite!) so I won’t need any other stemmed glasses.

Add Candles

The table is finished with some mercury glass candle holders.*

I have had the small tealight holders for a while, and use them often (they seem to look good with everything!)

But I wanted some candle holders that were a little taller (to vary the height), but not so high that they block the view across the table.

So I ended up making these frosted glass candle holders out of mason jars…and they fit in perfectly with the decor!

The Finished Table

The finished table has just enough sparkle to keep all that white from being too boring.  And there’s still space on the table for a few serving dishes.

My new favorite champagne flutes fit in perfectly…and I think my new DIY candle holders also reflect the winter theme.

It still looks good during the day without the candles lit.

Overall the table looks exactly like I was hoping it would!  Hopefully, the rest of the dinner will go off just as well 🙂
