Elegant Pink and White Easter Tablescape

I have to start by saying that creating a pink and white Easter tablescape was not something I planned…it was a happy accident.

The grocery store by my house has always carried these gigantic pink and white flowers in their floral section. And I have always loved them! I purposely walk by the flower section to take a look at them every time I go in. Just looking at them makes me feel happy.

But for all of those trips down the floral aisle, I have never bought them. They just never seemed quite right for the occasion…the colors were too bright, the white was too white, the fuschia clashed with my red Halloween dishes.  There was always a reason they wouldn’t work.

Then one evening, I was racking my brain trying to think of ideas for my Easter tablescape, and was completely drawing a blank. So I decided to go to the floral department of my grocery store for some inspiration. (For me, flowers are always great inspiration for tablescapes like my blue and white hydrangea-inspired table).

And there they were! Smiling at me…in a bouquet with some pink carnations and a few other pink and white daisies. With no other pre-conceived decorating ideas, this was the perfect opportunity to use them!

And so my pink and white Easter tablescape came to be.

The Flowers

Obviously, the flowers were the inspiration for my pink and white tablescape, so I wanted to make them into the centerpiece.

As usual, I don’t like really high arrangements in the middle of the table that prevent you from seeing the person across, which meant creating something low.

I decided to go with a 6″ square vase. Since I only had 2 of the daisies, I had to use them sparingly. I lined the inside of the vase with white roses. And that left just enough room for the daisies and pink carnations to go in the middle.

The last step was to add a wide gold ribbon around the jar which helped to hide the stems. To attach the ends, stick a thin strip of adhesive velcro to either end of the ribbon. Then it is easy to wind around the vase and stick the ends together (and it is also easy to remove).

The Place Settings

Since I used a gold ribbon on the vase, I decided to incorporate more of the gold in the table setting as well.

That’s when I found these gold magnolia place mats and decided they would be perfect!

Next I added the white chargers, light pink dinner plates and white salad plates.  Yes, the salad plate and dinner plate are the same dish pattern in different colors…I liked it :).

Simple gold cutlery work well with the color scheme.

Finally, pink water glasses finish off the place setting.

But What Makes It Easter?

How to make the table look like Easter? That was the question I was asking myself.

If you read last year’s Easter table setting post, you may remember that I don’t really do a lot of bunny rabbit and Easter egg decor (partly because I have no where to store it!).

I wanted something that would give the idea of Easter without requiring any new purchases.

When I saw some napkins folded into bunny shapes in the display at Pier 1, I knew what I had to do! Take one of them apart so I could see how they made them (don’t tell them that I was the one who messed up their display).

The large pink floral napkin ring was a perfect way to repeat the pink from the flowers.

The Finishing Touches

To keep the focus on the flowers, the rest of the table decor was pretty simple.  I added some candle holders.

These ones are actually stemless wineglasses filled with white sand and pink acrylic crystals.

For the smaller ones, I just added the pink acrylic crystals to give a little bit of a pink glow.

On the buffet, I divided up the rest of the white and pink daisies that came in the bouquet.

Using 2 or 3 stems in highball glasses is an easy way to have repeating flowers.

As an unexpected benefit, the pink daisies actually caused the water to turn pink.  That was definitely not planned, but worked out pretty well 🙂

The Finished Table

I love the gold, pink and white color scheme for the table setting.

It looks very bright and spring-like.

Of course, since Easter is late this year, and I already have my table set…I now have an excuse to keep buying more flowers 🙂
